The RV Solar Panel
The best thing you can do to get free power on the road is to
install an RV solar panel. The benefits will far outweigh
the costs, no matter what you pay for the panel. (See the
previous page about RV solar
panels).

The RV solar panel
is:
*
Clean
*
Quiet
* Always On -
even on cloudy days
|
* Cost (can
SEEM costly,
but is trivial once you
consider panel will pay for itself many
times over)
* Storage
(also not a huge concern. Most panels are
permanently affixed to the roof of your RV or

The best thing to do for a
roof-mounted RV solar panel is to cfome up with
an installation that doesn't need to be stowed
or retracted for transport.
Simple mounting hardware from Home
Dept or Lowes (western states) will keep you
from having to get up on the roof every time
your want to get back on the road.

For cases when you want your RV solar panel to maximize all
available solar energy right away, consider using a hinged
mount system, so you can angle the panels toward the sun.
If you're really adventurous, you'll want a system that can
track the sun automatically. Some RV solar panel
installations, especially those in the lower midwest, plains
states and south can benefit from solar coupled with wind.
The two together can give you all the enrgy you'll ever need,
although a solar system by itself is just as good. Always
remember to vent any batteries you're charging to keep
hazardous gasses away from the people in the trailer.
