RV Solar Panels
Have you ever wanted to setup RV solar panels?
That is solar panels that you mount on your RV to
supplement your power needs when you're camping? It's not
that bad of a process at all. I did it last year on my
1982 Automate trailer in about 2 hours. She's a beast, but
also can kick out wattage better than anything else in the
campground I've seen yet.
The best part of having RV solar panels is there
is no generator noise. You know that camper at the camp site
that's always got the massive generator running all night and
ruining the experience for everybody else? You won't be that
guy.

My trailer has appliances that run off both natural gas and
electricity. When I put the solar panels in, my gas usage
actually cut down dramatically. I feed a charge controller that
feeds batteries and eventually an inverter. Why an inverter?
There has been a misunderstanding over the past few years I
think about the use of DC electricity in RVs. For RV solar
panels, you actually do yourself better most of the time to
convert the DC to AC when you use it. The reason is that the
gauge of wire you need to use to carry the same amount of DC
current to your applicances versus AC is so much larger. You
wouldn't think this amount of voltage drop would make a
difference over such a short distance, but it can. Not to
mention the thicker wire you need for DC is just plain hard to
work with.
Another big plus of have rv solar panels is
that you don't ever have to worry about plugging in your
batteries again to charge them when you're not using them.
Also, something I never even counted on but have come to
enjoy is that my trailer actually stays cooler in the
summer simply because the rv solar panels provide a fair
amount of shade!
How to get a set of rv solar panels for a fraction of the
cost of buying them new:
Don't go out and buy yourself an expensive solar panel
(unless you really don't mind spending the money). This is the
natural instinct most people have...but there is a MUCH lower
cost way that will get you just as good of results but for a
fraction of the cost.
1) Find solar cells that are damaged. This is really the
key. Solar cell manufacturers have slip-ups. You wouldn't
believe how many of these things are the market. You can get a
bunch for 1/100th the cost of buying new.
2) Spend a couple hours on a weekend and wire them together
in the proper series-parallel arrangement. This process doesn't
take much time, and it saves you hundreds on the cost of
panels.
3) Get yourself an easy to find frame to mount the cells in.
You can get a frame from almost anywhere, or just build your
own. If you click here,
you can get one from an American made source that is easy to
find in almost every neighborhood and put together with a
simple screwdriver.

That's it. Quick, easy, and so many benefits. I don't think
you'll regret equipping yourseld with rv solar panels. They'll
be there all the time, making you clean, free power without
cords.
